It is favoured by gardeners the world over, noted for it’s stunning autumn display. It often has multiple trunks joined close to the ground. It is favoured as a bonsai species. Native to Japan, Korea, Mongolian and South-Eastern Russia, but is extensively grown world-wide as an ornamental tree and has many thousands of cultivars.
