Agapanthus Africanus: African Lily Contrary to its name, Agapanthus Africanus is not technically a lily. It is native only on the rocky sandstone slopes of the winter rainfall Fynbos, from the Cape Peninsula to Swellendam. Growing anywhere from 10-30 inches, the African Lily is not a suitable garden plant, requiring hot, dry summers and a winter rainfall climate. It does not tolerate extended freezing temperatures.
